Miracles do happen.

The date was Nov. 20, 1982. The venue, California Memorial Stadium. In the 85th “Big Game” between Stanford and the University of California Golden Bears. That’s when it happened, the moment that forever became known as “The Play.” Stanford took what looked like a game-sealing lead, 20-19, with four seconds left. On the ensuing kickoff, Cal showed they weren’t done out yet. They used five lateral passes to run it back to the house, crashing through Stanford’s band as they stormed prematurely to celebrate the victory.

It was one of the most memorable plays in college football history, and it was just one of many over the course of 140 years of Cal football! What a tradition.
